This is the reaction of Mike Enriquez to the ABS-CBN franchise issue
Veteran broadcaster of GMA Mike Enriquez shared his reaction about the franchise issue concerning the rival network ABS-CBN.
In a previous report, the House of Representative froze the renewal of the network’s franchise due to the vocal criticisms of President Rodrigo Duterte against it.
Allegedly, the Kapamilya network needs to address issue such as it’s alleged debt and regarding harassment that the employees experienced.
With regards to this, PAGCOR official Jimmy Bondoc, whose post about the demise of the biggest TV network went viral, reiterated that the media entity should address the issues.
Mike Enriquez, known as one of the prominent broadcasters in GMA, was asked to react about this matter.
Based on the report from PEP, he said, “Ehhh! No comment! Hindi naman kami ang nagbibigay ng franchise, Kongreso!”
As Mike was asked during the pressc conference for his show Dobol B Sa News TV, he immediately called reporter Divine Reyes who is assigned in Congress.
The veteran broadcaster asked her the update regarding the franchise issue.
“Kailangan pong i-refile kasi nagsara na po yung 17th Congress. So ire-refile siya sa 18th po,” Divine explained.
Mike Enriquez added, “Yung Congress, hindi inaksiyunan yung franchise. That means kailangan i-refile yun. Yun ang sistema.”
On the other hand, he stressed out that he has no personal comment regarding the issue.
“Hindi ba, meron turo sa atin na huwag tayong magbunyi sa kamalasan o sa kasamaang-palad ng iba?” Mike said.
The session for the 18th Congress will open on July 22, 2019 while the franchise of ABS-CBN will expire on March 2020, based on the report.
