6 Million National IDs to be Released by PSA in September

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced that about six million Filipinos will receive their national identification cards (National IDs) in September 2019.

PSA officials assured that the first batch of national identification cards is ready for distribution in September this year.

House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo pushed the quick imposition of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

“I am happy that it’s all systems go for the National ID system based on the timeline they have presented to us this morning,” Arroyo said.

Deputy National Statistician of the PSA lawyer Lourdines Dela Cruz said that the agency would start the registration of over 6 million Filipino people for the PhilSys in September in line with RA 11055.

Filipinos and resident aliens at least five years old are those who are qualified to register for the National ID.

Indigents, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and government workers are the first to be registered, according to Dela Cruz.
