CIDG Arrests Nueva Ecija Former Mayor Efren Alvarez
NUEVA ECIJA FORMER MAYOR – The CIDG arrested Efren Alvarez, an ex-mayor of Science City of Muñoz in Nueva Ecija.
Undeniably, in the field of Philippine politics, a lot of people who are holding or have held government positions are faced with cases in line with their political career.
Most of these politicians are facing allegations of corruptions and violations of the Anti-Gract and Corrupt Practices Act while others were already found by court guilty.
Recently, Sandiganbayan found another former city mayor guilty of graft.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the officers of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested Nueva Ecija former mayor Efren Alvarez.
In 2009, the Sandiganbayan found Alvarez guilty of violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The case is regarding the allegedly anomalous construction of a shopping mall in a government-owned lot in Muñoz.
According the report, the officers did a manhunt operation and the former Mayor was found in Bayuga Street in Barangay Poblacion, Muñoz. He is a brother of the current mayor of the city, Nestor Alvarez.
Currently, he is under the custody of the CIDG.
