A Bacolod City official explained why barriers were placed during the second Inasal Festival and made some clarifications regarding the issue.

Last Saturday (May 25, 2019), Bacolod City held its second Chicken Inasal Festival but only allows the residents who have tickets to join.

Unfortunately, the event receives massive criticisms because of the barricades placed to restrict several residents from joining the festival.

Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran admitted that he received private messages from netizens complaining about the barricades placed during the event.

Familiaran explained that the city government issued the ticket to control the crowd and to prevent unexpected incidents such as stampede.

The official revealed that the 2009 festival held at SM City failed after some of the participants grabbed the uncooked chicken.

The 2009 incident leads the City Government to choose beneficiaries for a peaceful and well-organized festival, Familiaran said.

The Vice Mayor said that he would ask the event organizers to transfer the venue from Araneta Street to Bacolod Government Center to prevent traffic congestion in the downtown area.
