Netizen Questions Motive of Rappler in Posting Again Previous Issue Involving Pres. Duterte
RAPPLER – A netizen posted questions on the move of online new website Rappler to repost a previous issue involving President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
One of the controversial issues that dragged the name of ABS-CBN network is about its franchise. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously expressed that he will object its renewal which will be in 2020.
The President’s objection on allowing the giant network to renew its franchise is due to the network’s alleged refusal to air his campaign advertisement.
One of the media companies that reported about the issue is Rappler. In an article published in 2017, it is stated that unlike former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, Pres. Duterte does not need to declare martial law to shut down ABS-CBN.
According to the article, Pres. Duterte will only have to wait for the expiration of its franchise. When it happens, the network won’t anymore have the right to air its TV programs and shows.
Recently, Rappler took to its Facebook account again the 2017 article involving Pres. Duterte and the ABS-CBN. It is amid the issues following singer Jimmy Bondoc’s post that he is eager to see the biggest TV network fall.
The move of the online news website to repost the article about the issue sparked questions from a netizen. The netizen asked why Rappler has to post it again and what is the online news website trying to show.
“Why post this again? A 2018 update? Seriously Rappler? What are you insinuating?” the netizen stated.
There are a lot of other comments on the post. Some are in favor of ABS-CBN while the others support the plan of Pres. Duterte to object to the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise.
