Kiko Pangilinan has resigned as Liberal Party President
Opposition Senator Kiko Pangilinan has resigned as the President of Liberal Party.
The LP is one of the most prominent political parties in the history of politics in the Philippines.
Some of the prominent names who belong to this party are the Aquinos, consisting of the late Senator Ninoy Aquino, former President Cory Aquino and former President Noynoy Aquino.
Kiko Pangilinan is also one of the biggest names in LP. This is despite the fact that his wife Megastar Sharon Cuneta is vocal about her support to the current administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Sharon’s brother Chet Cuneta, who ran for Mayor in Pasay City was endorsed by Duterte’s administration. However, that endorsement did not play a major role for him to win.
The Megastar previously shared that she and her husband are trying to avoid talking about politics, as much as possible. However, they respect each other’s views when it comes to this aspect.
A previous report stated that Pangilinan is the campaign manager of Otso Diretso, the group of senatorial candidates of the opposition.
Based on a report from Inquirer, the resignation of Pangilinan as the Liberal Party President will take effect on June 30.
The Senator has not revealed yet the reason behind his resignation.
