Halalan 2019: Several Vote Counting Machines Not Functioning on Actual Election Day (May 13)

Several vote counting machines in some precincts were allegedly not functioning on the actual Election Day (May 13, 2019).

On Monday morning, the voting process at a certain precinct in Datu Odin Sinsuat town, Maguindanao has been interrupted.

The voting interruption occurred after some vote counting machines were found not working leading to long lines of voters outside the precinct.

Some voters were already complaining regarding the situation since most of them are observing Ramadan.

The Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) chairperson said that the VCM would be replaced so the voting process could resume immediately.

“Papalitan po namin ‘yung VCM namin. Hintayin na lang namin ‘yung VCM para continuous ‘yung vote,” the chairperson said.

Another report said that some voter registration verification machines (VRVMs) at Apolinar Franco Sr. Elementary School in Davao del Sur were not also working.

The teachers conducting the voting process were forced to check the list of voters manually due to the technical problem.

According to some reports, some names of voters who are already dead were still on the list while some names have not been found on the list.
