Facebok Post Claims Obama Supports Duterte And His Candidates, Fact Or Faked?

Is It True? A Facebook Post That Claims Obama Is Supporting President Duterte Went Viral

FACEBOOK POST – A Facebok post made last week, (May 2, 2019 – Thursday) claims that former US President Obama is supporting Duterte and his Candidates.

Recently, President Duterte revealed that he is skeptical about his 12 candidates winning all the seats in the senatorial spots. However, with the alleged support of former US President Barrack Obama, things could take a drastic change.

But unfortunately, the Facebook post made by a certain Adulpo Ampatuan showing the former US President holding up a shirt with Duterte’s name on it and a news report with the headline ‘Obama endorses Duterte for pres’ was faked.

The photos were posted on Facebook with the caption:

“US PRES. BARRACK OBAMA OBSESSED NA OBSESSED KAY PRESIDENT RODY DUTERTE. [US Pres. Barrack Obama is so obsessed with president Rody Duterte] HE ADVISED THE FILIPINOS TO VOTE FOR HUGPONG NG PAGBABAGO AND PDP-LABAN CANDIDATES.”

And the hashtag “#ChangeIsComing.”

French News providing agency, Agence French-Presse or AFP did a reverse image search to validate the claim and later on found out that it was false.

The original version of the first photo was Barrack Obama honoring NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson by giving him gloves back in September of 2011.

While the second photo was edited from the original version where Barrack Obama was holding up a white shirt with a quote on it saying “hate won’t win” in a Twitter post.

This is according to an article from MSN News.

The faked Facebook post gained 800+ likes and reactions and it has also been shared 700+ times. There were 85 comments with various reactions about the post.

Some of it were skeptical and some actually believed the fake information.

This faked post shows how easy it is to spread false information and fool the public. So it’s important to check on given data to validate claims.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
