A Portion of Mall Escalator in Ortigas Collapsed Due To Leaks Caused by Heavy Rains
A portion of mall escalator in Ortigas Center in Mandaluyong City suddenly collapsed and crashed to the ground floor due to heavy rains.
A Twitter user named Kat Domingo has posted the photo of a portion of Podium’s escalator collapsed inside Ortigas Center.
The underside of the escalator fell down on a booth at the ground floor of the mall after liquid leaker from the structure.
A 28-year-old tourist named Zachary Lee said that nobody was hurt in the incident but found leaks in three other sites inside the building.
Lee also explained that the mall employees immediately controlled the leaks by putting barricades on the affected areas.
The Podium management has also released an official statement regarding the incident happened inside the mall.
“The strong rains caused damages to an isolated portion of the ceiling in The Podium. To ensure the safety of our customers, the area has been temporarily cordoned off. Repair and maintenance works will commence once the weather improves.”
The mall also ensured the public that no one was hurt in the incident.
