Filipina Hiker Raises PH Flag Wearing National Costume At Mt. Everest

FILIPINA HIKER – A Filipina hiker named Bianca Lawas raised the Philippine flag wearing the National Costume on Mt. Everest.

The first ever Filipino to summit the Mount Everest is the mountain climber from Bataan Roberto “Romi” Garduce.

Mountaineer’s expedition to the highest mountain on Earth was sponsored by the GMA network.

Romi Gardoce successfully reached the Mount Everest peak on May 19, 2006. Filipinos felt very proud of the achievement of the climber and that finally the Philippine flag is among the flags that are posted on the summit.

On the other hand, a Filipina named Carina Dayondon also raised the Philippine flag on the Seven Summit quest.

The 7 summits were Mt. Everest, Kilimanjaro, Kosciusko, Elbrus, Denali, Aconcagua, and Cartensz.

Meanwhile, a Filipina hiker named Amaryllis Bianca Lawas went viral after she posted a photo at Mt. Everest as she raised a flag wearing a red Filipiniana gown. She is a mountaineer from Malate, Manila.

On April 28, she uploaded the photo that inspired lots of netizens.

In the caption of the post, she wrote: “Representing the Philippines Everest base camp in my red Filipiniana gown.”

The Filipina hiker also revealed on her caption that she wore that dress during a -15 degree Celsius temperature and snowing at 5,364 meters above sea level.

“Changing into my Filipiniana National Costume outdoors while snowing at 5364 meters above sea level with -15 degree celsius temperature is no joke! No joke at all!!!,” she said.
