Filipina Mountaineer Carina Dayondon Successfully Climbed the Seven Summits
FILIPINA MOUNTAINEER – The Filipina mountaineer from Bukidnon, Carina Dayondon, successfully completed the Seven Summits.
The 39-years old mountaineer Carina Dayondon is Philippine Coast Guard’s Lieutenant Junior Grade Officer. She is from the highland province of Bukidnon.
Carina started her fondness in mountain climbing after she joined the school-based mountaineering club. In the year 2001, she then became a part of the National Sports climbing team.
Carina Dayondon then joined several adventure races including paddling, running/hiking, biking, kayaking and land navigation for 3 to 4 days.
During those adventure races, Carina was discovered by an organizer and gave her the privilege to join the Philippine Mt. Everest Team.
Based on report from ABS-CBN, Carina Dayondon have already climbed the Seven Summits. These summits were the Mt. Everest, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Denali, Elbrus, Kosciusko, and Cartensz.
The Seven Summits is the mountaineering challenge in the world. She just joined her name on the elite list of mountaineers.
According to the report, Carina’s became the first Pinay to ever finish the Seven Summits. She is second to Romi Garduce who finished it last 2012.
Her teammate from the “Balangay Voyage” named Fung Yu stated that he received a satellite phone call from Carina.
Carina told Fung Yu that she successfully the Mt. Vinson summit last December 16. She also requested to inform her family that she was okay and also inquired about her dogs.
“She has descended from the summit and that her climb was a success. Carina also wanted her family to know she is safe. She also asked about her dogs,” Fung said.
Based on the report, Carina Dayondon is currently at the Antartica base camp while waiting for the weather to get better.
This year, Carina climbed Denali (2006), Everest (2007), Elbrus (2013), Kosciusko (2014) Kilimanjaro (2015) and Aconcagua (2018).
Another Filipino has again made an achievement after Catriona Gray’s triumph on the Miss Universe 2018 competition.
