Romi Garduce made the Filipino nation proud once again as he completed his historic seven summit quest and conquered Mt. Vinson Massif at the Antartic Region. The Filipino mountain climber set foot atop Mt. Vinson on January 5 at 6:45pm, Antarctica time (January 6, 5:45am, Philippine time).

The historic seven summit quest feat by Romi Garduce was completed after 10 years of visiting different well-known summits in seven different continents in the world.

Romi Garduce’s conquest put him at par with popular and well-known mountain climbers in the world. He was the first Filipino to conquered eight of the seven highest mountains in seven different continents.

The Mt. Vinson Massif summit is located at latitude 78 degrees 35 minutes south and 85 degrees 25 minutes west longitude. It is found in the Ellsworth Mountains at the Antartic Region.

Romi’s team summitted the 16,067-foot alpine mountain lying in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains amid a cold -26 degree Celsius weather.

The Kapuso star who had been a prominent figure at GMA-7’s where he was the pioneered host of the program “Born to be Wild.” The network had supported Garduce’s quest to capture the seven summit quest.

  • Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa (September 2002)
  • Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina (January 2005)
  • Mt. Everest in Nepal (May 2006)
  • Mt. Elbrus in Russia (August 2007)
  •  Mt. McKinley or Denali Peak in North America (June 2008)
  • Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia (December 2008)
  • Mt. Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia (July 2011)
  • Mt. Vinson Massif in Antartica (January 2012)
