Loading And Unloading Of Provincial Buses’ Passengers Prohibited On EDSA After Holy Week
PROVINCIAL BUSES – Right after Holy Week, on April 22, provincial buses will no longer be allowed to load and unload passengers along EDSA.
This is after massive commuters going to their provinces are expected to be coming back to the city. Since people from the provinces will probably take the opportunity to spend long weekend with their families.
MMDA Command Center’s head, Bong Nebrija, said
in a conversation with DZMM that provincial buses are supposed to take passenger from “terminal to terminal.”
The “terminal to terminal” franchise already prohibits buses from stopping at any part of ESDA and other main roads. But according to Bong Nerija, this has not been followed for a long time.
This is according to an article from ABS CBN News. According to the article,
Bong Nerija also announced on radio DZMM that traffic rules will be more strictly implemented. In his actual statement:
“Hindi na po namin iyan ito-tolerate. Now we’re strictly implementing iyung mga rules and regulations sa EDSA para mapaluwag natin iyung trapiko.”
or “It will no longer be tolerated. Now we’re strictly implementing those rules and regulations on EDSA so we can loosen up the traffic.”
Nerija also revealed that provincial buses will only be allowed to unload passengers in terminals located in Cubao, Quezon City and Pasay.
According to HM Transport Inc. Executive Director Homer Mercado: Bus Operators Association in Southern Luzon formally wrote to the Secretary of Trasportation Arthur Tugade to ask for clarification about the routes under the traffic arrangement.
A lot of commuters will be affected by the Bus Ban, including daily commuters going around the city and majority of workers in Makati.
Meanwhile, a group of passengers initiated a petition against the Bus Ban according to Homer Mercado.
That is all there is to it, we’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
