Authorities Impose New Traffic & Parking Scheme For Holy Week 2019

The authorities released a traffic advisory imposing a new traffic and parking scheme to keep vehicular traffic for Holy Week activities.

The Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-TEU) would impose a new traffic and parking scheme in Metro Manila due to the activities for the Lenten Season.

The traffic advisory has been released since thousands of Filipino devotees are expected to participate in Religious events for Holy Week 2019.

New Traffic & Parking Scheme

MPD-TEU would close several roads and implement re-routing of roads to control the flow of traffic in the area.

Here are some of the new traffic and parking schemes:

April 17 to 19 (Around 7:00 pm)

  • General Luna Street in Intramuros close to vehicular traffic from Sto. Tomas to Muralla Streets
  • Motorists from Magallanes Drive are advised to use Anda Circle heading to their destination instead of utilizing Gen. Luna.
  • Vehicles from Anda Circle should take A. Soriano, right to Magallanes Drive to their destination instead of using Gen. Luna.
  • The advisory orders motorists from P. Burgos (Round Table)  should turn right to Muralla Street instead of General Luna.

April 19 (Good Friday 5:00 pm)

  • The procession atTondo Church, would turn left to Chacon Street, left to Juan Luna Street, make a u-turn at Pritil St, then turn right to Herbosa Street, left to Velasquez Street, another left to Panday Pira Street, right to Sta. Maria Street, cross Moriones Street to J. Nolasco Street, then head back to the church.

April 21 (Easter Sunday)

  • 3:00 am – procession at the Tondo Church to J. Nolasco Street, left to Moriones Street, a u-turn then turn right to Wagas Street,  left to Lakandula, and straight to the church.
  • 4:00 am – from Tondo Church, the procession would go turn to left to Chacon Street, then left to Juan Luna Street, a u-turn at Pritil Street, right to Herbosa Street, left to Yangco/Sta. Maria Street, cross Moriones Street to J. Nolasco Street,  head back to church.

MPD would also impose a stop-and-go traffic scheme on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday during the processions.
