HOLY WEEK TIPS – Here is a list of ten(10) safety reminders in joining church processions this Lenten season.
This week holds the most important days in the Lenten season – the Maundy Thursday, the Good Friday, the Black Saturday, and the Easter Sunday. The aforementioned Holy Week events will be from April 18 – 21, 2019.
As part of the religious event, there are activities held in the churches and at homes.
Inside the household of Catholic, Filipino families, fasting is usually observed.
Except for the children, the senior citizens, the sick, and the pregnant women, the other members of the house avoid eating pork, beef, chicken, and lamb meat. Only bread and fish are usually eaten.
Also, Filipino families watch together television programs in line with the Holy Week celebration. There are the showing of the Passion of Christ and Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ.
In churches, there are also several activities being held – masses, processions, and vigils among others. A lot of people join church processions which usually gather the crowd.
In joining church processions, here are ten(10) Holy Week tips or safety reminders you must consider:
- Bring water to keep yourself from getting dehydrated by the heat of the sun.
- Bring cap or umbrella which you can use when it is really very sunny or for the purpose of shielding from the possible rain.
- Make sure you are feeling well and can endure the long walk.
- Come to the church before the processions starts to avoid rushing.
- Prepare candles with cardboard and, if possible, with cover.
- Do not bring a huge amount of money on your bag and as well as expensive gadgets.
- Wear a light-colored shirt.
- Bring a fan which you can use in case the heat is really intense.
- Bring handkerchief, it will surely serve several purposes on that day.
- Be intentional in joining the Holy Week church processions – follow the rules set by the parish.
