List of Roads that will be Closed in Makati City for the Lenten Events

MAKATI CITY – Here is the list of roads that will be closed in Makati City for the Lenten events.

The Philippines has a huge number of Roman Catholics. This coming Lenten season, several roads will be closed due to the church’s activities.

The local government of Makati recently released the list of roads that will be closed for the event.

Based on a report from Untvweb, Makati City officials issued an advisory regarding the road closures and rerouting from April 14 at 10 pm to April 21 at 10 pm.

Here are the list of roads that will be closed:

  • Gen. Luna Street (From P. Burgos Street to Mercado Street)
  • Enriquez Street (From Son Pedro Street to Fermina Street)
  • San Marcos Street (From Pagulayan Street to P. Burgos Street)
  • San Juan Street (From Pagulayan Street to P. Burgos Street)
  • Don Pedro Street (From Gabaldon Street to Manalac Street)
  • Guanzon Street (From P. Burgos Street to Makati Avenue)
  • San Mateo Street (From D.M. Rivera Street to P. Gomez Street)
  • Agno Street (From D.M. Rivera Street to P. Gomez Street)
  • Dona Epifania Street (From A. Mabini Street to Agno Street)
  • Ilaya Street (From A. Mabini Street to J.P. Rizal Street)
  • Don Pedro Street (From A Mabini Street to Villena Street)
  • Albert Street (Villena Street to Palma Street)
  • P. Gomez Street (From J.P. Rizal Street to Zamora Street)
  • P. Gomez Street (Hagdang Bato Whole Block)
  • San Agustin Street (From P. Burgos Street to P. Gomez Street)
  • Quintos Street (From Santiago Street to Singian Street)
  • Molina Street (from Quintos Street to Singian Street)
  • Zanaida Street (From E. Zobel Street to F. Zobel Street)
  • Bagong Diwa Street (From M.L. Quezon Street to Pertierra Street)
  • Ma. Aurora Ext. Street (From Pertierra Street to Ma. Aurora Street)
  • Osmeña Street (From M.L. Quezon Street Bridge Service Road/P. Burgos Street)

Motorists were also informed that they have to take the alternating routes to avoid being stranded in roads. The procession is scheduled this coming April 17 to April 19.

Here is the list for the vehicles that are heading to the Westside Makati, The Circuit, and Manila:

  • From J.P. Rizal Street, Light vehicles must turn left to Estrella Street
  • Turn right to Rockwell Drive, turn right to Kalayaan Avenue (District 1)
  • Turn left to Makati Avenue
  • Make a right turn to Jupiter Street or Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue
  • Turn Right to N. Garcia Street (Reposo Street)
  • Turn left to J.P. Rizal Avenue and follow the usual route to destination
  • From J.P. Rizal Street, Public Utility Vehicles, small trucks, and jeepneys must turn left to Estrella Street
  • Turn right to EDSA, turn right to Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue
  • Cross Paseo Intersection and Makati Avenue Intersection
  • Make a right turn to N. Garcia Street (Reposo Street)
  • Turn left to J.P. Rizal Avenue and follow the usual route to destination

Here is the list for the vehicles heading to Guadalupe, Pateros, and EDSA:

  • From J.P. Rizal Avenue, head straight to Kalayaan Avenue
  • Turn right to N. Garcia Street
  • Make a left-turn to Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue
  • Cross Makati Avenue Intersection and Paseo de Rozas Avenue intersection
  • Turn right to EDSA if going to Mandaluyong and Quezon City area
  • If going to Pasay City, take the Buendia flyover from EDSA

Here are for the vehicles heading to Mandaluyong City via Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge:

  • Traverse Ayala Avenue to South Avenue then turn right to Kalayaan Avenue
  • Make a left turn to Pililia Street
  • Turn Right to J. P. Rizal Avenue
  • Left turn at Makati Avenue and J.P. Rizal Extension to Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge
  • Motorists may also take the Ayala-EDSA flyover or Buendia-EDSA flyover in Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue to Mandaluyong City.

Here are for the vehicles heading to Makati Central Business District to Ayala:

  • From Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge, turn right to J.P. Rizal Avenue
  • Turn Left to Zapote Street
  • Turn Left to Kamagong Street
  • Turn right to Ayala Avenue Extension
  • Cross Ayala Avenue/Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue intersection to destination

According to the report, Makati City government stated that two-way traffic will be applied along J.P. Rizal Street from Pasong Tirad going to Makati Avenue starting 6 am of April 14 until 10 pm on April 21.

The normal traffic in Makati City will resume on April 22.
