Murcia, Negros Occidental’s Local Government Declares State of Calamity

STATE OF CALAMITY MURCIA NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – The local government of Murcia in Negros Occidental declared a state of calamity over the municipality.

The summer season is already felt in the Philippines. The intense heat is putting the lives of individuals at risk as well as the livelihood of many people most especially the farmers.

Recently, a municipality government in Negros Occidental even made an urgent announcement to aid the farmers and workers who might lose their livelihood due to the dry season.

State of Calamity

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the local government of Murcia in the province of Negros Occidental declared a state of calamity in the municipality.

The declaration is due to the intense drought that is felt in the municipality now. The soil is already cracking because of the intense heat and many farmers may lose their work until the rainy season comes.

Based on the report, the declaration was made for the release of the calamity fund to aid the people who will temporarily lose their source of living. The fund is worth Php 3 million pesos.

Aside from Murcia, Negros Occidental, Bayambang, Pangasinan also feels the intense heat and effects of the dry season. In fact, the people there started harvesting their crops like onions to avoid it getting affected.

In Davao City, a lot of corn would not be harvested anymore after it has been affected by the intense heat brought by the dry season. The authorities are already looking for ways to aid those individuals who are affected by it.
