The state weather bureau PAGASA announced that the Tropical Depression Chedeng has already weakened into a low-pressure area after making landfall.

On Tuesday morning (March 19, 2019), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest weather updates about Tropical Depression Chedeng.

PAGASA said that around 5:30 on Tuesday early morning, Chedeng made landfall over Davao Occidental.

The tropical cyclone displaced about 500 families in Malita town who fled to evacuation centers.

The weather agency has also lifted all tropical cyclone warning signals but rains are still expected over parts of Mindanao.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Region, Soccskargen, and portions of Northern Mindanao, Bangsamoro and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The weather bureau also warned the public to take precautionary measures for possible flashfloods and landslides.

Chedeng was last spotted over the vicinity of Malungon, Sarangani.

Meanwhile, PAGASA warned that sea travel for small sea craft along the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao remains risky.
