Binibining Pilipinas 2019: Pageant Not Prepared To Accept Transwoman Candidate Yet?

What is Binibining Pilipinas 2019 stand about transwoman candidates?

BINIBINING PILIPINAS 2019 – A mentor and talent manager of famous beauty queens expressed his stand about having transwoman candidate for this year.

The Binibining Pilipinas 2019 will be the 56th edition of the pageant in search for the next beauty queens to represent the country in the international pageantry.

Accordingly, its annual search began last January 11 and the deadline for submission was on March 15. There will be six crowns at stake for this year’s Binibini pageant such as the coveted Miss Universe Philippines, Binibining Pilipinas International, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental, Binibining Pilipinas Supranational, Binibining Pilipinas Globe, and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International.

Are they open in accepting transwoman candidates?

In a report from PEP, talent manager and mentor of famous beauty queens Rodgil Flores said that he had not met any transwoman applicant for screening but there are those who complained about meeting gays in screening who were mistaken to be real women because they are just so gorgeous. Also, it was a general awareness that they are not yet legalized in the country.

“Siyempre, sa passport niya, lalaki pa rin yan… Hindi naman ginagawa sa atin na pinapalitan ang documents, like passport, kung naging babae ka na,” says Flores.

Also, there are a lot of gorgeous applicants for this year vying to bag a crown and a prestigious title. Aspirants and future candidates are surely pressured to have a back-to-back win.

For the record in 2018, Catriona Gray got the 4th Miss Universe crown, Karen Gallman is bagged Philippines’ first-ever Miss Intercontinental crown, Ma. Ahtisa Manalo placed as first runner-up in Miss International pageant, Jehza Huelar finished in the Top 10 of Miss Supranational, and Michele Gumabao emerged in the Top 15 of Miss Globe.
