2018 World Air Quality Report Tags Calamba, Laguna as Cleanest City in Southeast Asia

The 2018 World Air Quality Report shows that Calamba, Laguna ranked first on the list of cleanest city in Southeast Asia.

Calamba, Laguna of Philippines has been dubbed as the cleanest city in Southeast Asia in terms of air, which is another achievement for our country.

The World Air Quality Report made the announcement in terms of PM2.5 per cubic meter of air in 2018.

The IQ AirVisual, a Swiss-based group gathering air quality data globally, and Greenpeace conducted the study.

The Philippines fared better after Valenzuela ranked second and followed by Carmona that earned the third place.

Meanwhile, Jakarta, Indonesia topped the list of the most polluted regional cities.

PM2.5 is most considered as an air pollutant that has negative impact to the body’s health.

This air pollutant could be obtained anywhere and can lodge deep in the lungs.

It can come from a range of natural as well as man-made sources. Common sources of PM include combustion (from vehicle engines, industry, wood and coal burning), as well as through other pollutants reacting in the atmosphere,” the report says.
