The Department of Information and Technology (DICT) and the Department of Education (DepEd) have been ordered by the Palace to make immediate actions regarding the Momo Challenge linked to cases of suicide among young teenagers.
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said that the government should implement precautionary measures whether the suicidal game is real or fake.
Panelo said that DICT and DepEd along with the parents need to closely monitor the young users when using the internet.
“Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Acting Secretary Eliseo Rio said that whether the Momo challenge is a hoax or not, the Department is warning the public of the dangers which can be found in the internet. The DICT, together with the Department of Education (DepEd), is targeting parents to monitor and give guidance to their children on how to use the internet,” Panelo said.
