Netizens criticized Martin Andanar for campaigning for Bong Go

Election 2019 — Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar received criticisms for campaigning for administration’s senatorial candidate Bong Go.

Go, the former Special Assistant to the President, resigned to seek the position of Senator for this year’s midterm election.

Last February 20, the Twitter account of GMA News shared a photo of Andanar during a campaign in San Juan.

The post has this caption: “Palace Communications Chief Martin Andanar represents former Special Asst to the President Bong Go here in San Juan campaign rally.”

These received criticisms from netizens. Here are some of the comments:

” Is @martinandanar working for the Filipino people or Bong Go? Is he receiving a salary from our taxes or from Bong? I believe he is paid to do his job at @TheMalakanyang,” Twitter user @stormbreaker888

“Akala ko ba government officials are not allowed to campaign for candidates this election?” – Twitter user @BrujaDelDemonio

“Sandali working hours ba ginawa to?So bakit siya nangangampanya e empleyado siya ng gobyerno? Hoy media nagbabayad din kayo ng tax TANUNGIN NIYO!” – Twitter user @

“Hayop talaga. Pinapasweldo ka ng bayan para ikampanya ang isang pribadong tao. Talaban sana kayo ng hiya, mga walang hiya.” – Twitter user @unlicomments

Based on the Article IX (B) Section 2, Paragraph 4 of the 1987 Constitution, “No officer or employee in the civil service shall engage, directly or indirectly, in any electioneering or partisan political campaign.”

Previously, Bong Go also received criticisms for his posters which were spotted in front of the Paranaque City Hall.

The former SAF’s oversize poster also received scrutiny from several netizens.
