Surigao Del Sur Hit by Earthquake with 5.0 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.0 magnitude quake in Surigao Del Sur today, February 9, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 2.4 magnitude quake in La Union. There were no expected damage or aftershock due to the said quake.
Recently, Phivolcs recorded another quake in PH. Today, February 9, 2019, Surigao Del Sur was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that jolted a part of Surigao Del Sur was located 08.54°North, 127.90°East – 173 km North 84° East of Hinatuan at 05:47:57 am.
The quake was tectonic in origin and it has a 047 km.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin regarding the quake in Surigao del Sur that there are no expected aftershocks and damages caused by the quake.
