Here is an update on the Measles outbreak death toll as of February 8

February 8, 2018 – Reports stated this number of death toll due to the measles outbreak in Metro Manila and several parts of the Philippines.

Department of Health declared Measles Outbreak on February 7, 2019, in NCR and Central Luzon and later that day several areas followed.

There are already 55 deaths reported in Metro Manila, according to the report from Pang-Masa.

An updated report from DZMM stated that the recorded death due to measles from January 1, 2019, has already reached 60. Based on the same report, 275 patients suffered from measles in San Lazaro Hospital in Metro Manila.

Furthermore, a report from CNN Philippines stated that 861 suspected cases of measles were recorded by DOH from February 2 this year.

The most affected cities are Manila, Caloocan, Marikina, Pasig, Navotas, Parañaque, Taguig, Pasay and Malabon.

DOH Central Luzon has recorded 400 cases of measles from January 1 and there were 5 recorded deaths due to measles. Head of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Jesse Fantone confirmed this report.

Based on the report, the DOH warned the public of the possible outbreak. This came from the record that 2.4 million children have not received measles vaccinations.

According to the agency’s Disease Prevention and Control Bureau Director, Ruby Constantino, parents feared to have their children immunized because of the Dengvaxia scare.

Western Visayas – 104 cases – 3 deaths
Central Visayas – 71 cases – 1 death
Eastern Visayas – 54 cases – 1 death
NCR – 441 cases – 5 deaths
Mimaropa – 64 cases- 2 deaths
Northern Mindanao – 60 cases
Soccsksargen – 43 cases
