Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Residents Receive Money From Businessman-Councilor Chavit Singson

CHAVIT SINGSON – Business tycoon and politician Luis “Chavit” Singson gave away money to the residents of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur.

Undeniably, one of the known wealthy personalities is Ilocos Sur Councilor Chavit Singson. He’s not only prominent for being a politician but also for being a giant in the field of business.

Aside from it, Chavit now also holds the Miss Universe franchise. Previously, he confirmed it and expressed that the announcement may come either in January or in February.

Chavit Singson got both big and small companies which, in an interview with The Philippine Star‘s Wilson Lee Flores, he tagged as all successful. According to the businessman, he can’t even estimate his net worth.

Ilocos Sur Councilor Chavit Singson is also close to several prominent personalities in the different fields including Filipino boxing champ Senator Manny Pacquiao.

The businessman-politician was spotted present in several of the fights of the boxer-senator. Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, he won a huge amount of money from the recent PacBroner match.

Sharing his winnings, Ilocos Sur Councilor Chavit Singson gave away money to the residents of his hometown – Narvacan. The people gathered in the market as the businessman-politician gave away “balato“.

According to Chavit, it is not the first time that he gave away money so he’s curious why it is given meanings. He stressed that he has called the Commission on Election (COMELEC) who assured that it is still allowed.

“Tumawag ako. ‘Puwede pa bang mamigay?’ Ang dami kong balato. Puwede, hindi pa naman nag-uumpisa,” the businessman-politician expressed.

Based on the report, for Councilor Chavit Singson, giving away money is not vote buying as the campaign period has yet to begin. On the other side, his political rival sees it differently.

“Siguro ‘yun ang alam niyang pinakamabisang pamamaraan para makuha ang boto ng mga tao,” Edgardo Zaragoza expressed.

The COMELEC has also spoken on the issue. Based on the report, the commission stressed that there is no more premature campaigning and the act will only be considered for the purpose of campaigning when the campaign period has started.
