MALDIVES DROWNING INCIDENTS – The series of drowning incidents in Maldives prompted the tourism officers to issue a warning to all resort operators.

Recently, there was an alarming series of drowning incidents in Maldives, one of the most beautiful tourist spots around the world. It is highly sought by tourists of different races for its turquoise waters and white sand beaches.

However, the recent incidents undeniably made lots of people who initially want to visit the island entertain some second-thoughts. In one week, five tourists passed away while on a vacation at the island.

The recent Maldives drowning incidents victims include the Filipino couple who drowned. They were identified as Leomer and Erika Joyce Lagradilla. The remains of the Maldives couple were already sent home to PH.

Following the series of Maldives drowning incidents, the tourism officers of the island issued a warning to all resort operators.

Based on a report on PhilStar, the tourism officers urged the operators of all the resorts in the island to monitor the vacationers in their place following the series of drowning incidents.

The strong currents due to the north-east monsoon are believed to be the cause of the recent incidents which seldom happen in the island.

The record shows that around 1.4 million tourists come to Maldives annually. In 2017, 31 tourists died in the island.

Based on the report, to avoid Maldives drowning incidents, the tourism officers are now in the move to identify the zones that are safe for swimming and diving.
