Duterte threatens to slap Baldo as the alleged mastermind in Batocabe slay

President Rodrigo Duterte stated “sampalin kita riyan sa munisipyo mo” to Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo as the alleged mastermind in the murder of Representative Rodel Batocabe.

Last December 22, 2018, Batocabe was attacked and shot by 6 men while he was giving gifts to the people in his hometown.

He is set to run as a Mayor of Daraga against incumbent Mayor Baldo.

Initial investigations of the Philippine National Police (PNP) pointed Baldo as the mastermind of the crime.

One suspect, identified as Henry Yuson reportedly has surrendered to the police.

With regards to the allegations, Mayor Baldo denied his involvement in the crime.

He said that he is a convenient scapegoat for the real culprit.

Regarding this issue, President Rodrigo Duterte threatens to slap the Mayor, based on the report from GMA News.

During the birthday party of the President’s former political adviser and 2019 Senate bet Francis Tolentino, he stated his threat.

“Merong tatakbo [para kay Batocabe]. Either relative, wife, or son. [You, Baldo]… do not… puntahan talaga kita. Sampalin kita riyan sa munisipyo mo,” the chief executive said.

“Try it. Sige, bukas, andun ako, pag ‘di kita nilampaso riyan,” the Chief Executive of the Philippines added.

Based on the election code, since the deadline for substituting a candidate has already lapsed last November 30, Batocabe can only be replaced by somebody with the same surname.

Meanwhile, the reward for the information on Batocabe’s killer is P50 million. Based on the report, President Duterte provided the P20 million pesos while the remaining amount came from the colleagues of the Representative.
