MONEY SAVING TIPS – Book author and former investment banker Rose Fausto introduced the “YAGO” over “YOLO” on ANC.

Undeniably, one of the usual New Year’s resolutions of many people is to save money beginning the new year. However, truths be told that many fail to keep up with their NYR and continues spending more.

Most often, we get tempted to buy or pay for the things that are not necessary as we believe on YOLO – You Only Live Once. Although this belief is true, it may also take us away from a comfortable future.

Recently, book author and former investment banker Rose Fausto appeared on ANC and shared some money saving tips. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, she introduced “YAGO” over “YOLO”.

The inspiring Filipina author of the book The Retelling of the  Richest Man in Babylon expressed that those who want to manage their finances better should trade “You Only Live Once” or YOLO with “You Also Grow Old” or YAGO.

Fausto stressed that saving money is not depriving one’s self but rather prioritizing one’s future self. According to her, it is a shift on the way of thinking.

Based on the report, Rose Fausto who introduced YAGO over YOLO as one of the money saving tips also expressed that saving money or investing it is the “first basic law of money”.

The book author suggested that Filipinos must begin with saving 20% of how much they are earning and think of it as like a tax.

“If you’re paying the government 20 percent or so, why don’t you pay yourself that much also?” she said.

Based on the report, another money saving tip from Fausto is that before you buy a luxury item, think first if you can afford to purchase ten pieces of the said item.
