For the Day 1 of MMFF 2018, Spokesperson Noel Ferrer share the initial report on top grossing films.

This year, film titles included in the official entries are: Rainbow Sunset, One Great Love, Mary, Marry Me, Otlum, Aurora, Fantastica: The Princess, The Prince and The Perya, Girl in the Orange Dress, and Jack Em Popoy: The Pulisincredibles.

An earlier report stated that MMFF is targeting a P1 billion box office gross this year.

It was also reported previously that fearless forecast from entertainment columnist said that Fantastica and Jack Em Popoy will be the two of the most popular movies.

During an interview with DZIQ Radyo Inquirer, Noel Ferrer stated the two aforementioned movies are really leading the box office.

However, he said that it could change as days go by, especially after the MMFF 2018 Awards Night. This will happen on December 27 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City.

“Sana evenly distributed ang kita. At kapag natapos ang awards night, normally ay nag-iiba ang ranking kasi sasabihin ng mga tao, kailangang panuorin ang nabigyan ng parangal,” the Spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, cinemas around the country will open earlier than the usual time.

In order to accommodate many moviegoers, cinemas showing the MMFF entries will open at 9 AM.

On December 25, the first showing date of the entries, tickets were already sold from 5 PM.

The last full show of the movies already ended at 3 AM the following day, based on the report.

  1. Jack Em Popoy JEP! Can’t imagine how long the queue of people who patiently lined-up just to see this film. Sold-out after sold-out schedules. They could have opted to watch the rival film cause they have shorter lines, but people are so dedicated in desire to watch only jack em popoy. Theater houses are having a hard time on how to accommodate the large influx of JEP moviegoers… and the people’s response after they have watched JEP is priceless. People are raving about it.
