MMFF Spokesperson Noel Ferrer stated that out of the 8 entries this year, they are hoping to reach their target of P1 billion box office gross.

Based on the fearless forecast from entertainment columnists, the movies of Vice Ganda with Dingdong Dantes and Richard Gutierres, as well as of Vic Sotto, Coco Martin and Maine Mendoza will make it big this year.

Will these movies contribute a huge effort in getting the target of MMFF?

“We’re really targeting sana maabot ng P1 bilyon this year,”  Ferrer said, based on ABS-CBN’s report.

On the other hand, they would understand if their target box office gross will not be reached.

“But of course we would understand kung hindi man, kasi naintindihan natin ‘yong context naman ng pamumuhay ng mga tao kasi mas mahal ‘yong sine ngayon compared to last year,” he added.

Last year, the film festival was able to have more than P1 billion box office gross.

Ferrer also hoped that Pinoy moviegoers will also watched the entries in spite that foreign films are also shown in cinemas now.

They hoped that they will get the same support that Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s movie The Hows of Us got. The said KathNiel movie is the first ever local film which got P600 million box office gross.

Meanwhile, the MMFF spokesperson said that they are expecting that Fantastica and Jack Em Popoy will have a good feed back from moviegoers.

“Palagi naman kasi parang ‘yan ‘yong respite ng mga tao sa hirap ng buhay nila, gusto nilang tumawa,” Ferrer said.

Based on the report, the income from the Metro Manila Film Festival 2018 will go to the beneficiaries such as the Film Academy of the Philippines, Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc. at Anti-Film Piracy Board.
