Following the Top 20, the list is narrowed down to Top 10 and then the Top 5. From the Top 5, three(3) candidates get into the final which is the Top 3 – Miss Philippines Catriona Gray, Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green, and Miss Venezuela Sthefany Gutierrez.

Miss Venezuela was proclaimed second runner-up while Miss South Africa was hailed as first runner-up. Filipinos are rejoicing over the victory of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

However, not known to many people is that there is one candidate who was not able to join the international event because she arrived late.

According to Bangkok Post, Miss Sierra Leone Marie Esther Bangura was “disqualified” from joining Miss Universe 2018 as she failed to meet the schedule set by the organizers.

Meanwhile, the beauty queen was allowed to attend several activities in line with the event. She was also warmly welcomed by the Thais.

Based on the report, Miss Sierra Leone faced some struggles with her visa as it took her two weeks to travel from her place to Nigeria where she can apply for a visa to the Royal Thai Embassy.

The organizers set December 2 but it was already December 8 when Miss Sierra Leone arrived according to the report. Meanwhile, she still had a wonderful experience in Thailand although she was not able to join the pageant.

“I always wanted to represent my country and that’s why I tried so hard to be here. Since I’m not competing, I still feel good because I got to meet people and learn new things,” she said according to the report.

  1. Sad to hear of the news Miss Nigeria was disqualified due to technicality. But still she was welcomed warmly by the Thais. That is still hospitality.
