Miriam Defensor-Santiago Receives Award, Heart Evangelista Honors Late Senator

Heart Evangelista honors late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

MIRIAM DEFENSOR-SANTIAGO – The Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista honors the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

Aside from being one of the best senators of the country, the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is also known for her funny and witty pick-up lines. Her funny and cheesy pick-up lines only prove that she is getting along so well with the social media age.

However, last September 2016, tears poured down as the senator laid to rest after a couple of years of fighting lung cancer. She was even tagged as the “best President we never had”.

Heart Evangelista, one of the closest persons to the Senator, expressed that she “sketched her life for her” and that she is in a better place now. The Kapuso actress is just thankful that she set her up before resting.

    • The late Senator authored some of the laws such as:

    • Reproductive Health Act of 2012
    • Sin Tax Law
    • Climate Change Act of 2009
    • Renewable Energy Act of 2008
    • Magna Carta of Women
    • Cybercrime Act of 2012
    • Archipelagic Baselines Act of 2009

And now, as her legacy remained, she just recently received Quezon Service Cross. She is the 6th person to receive and the first female awardee.

Heart wrote this on her Instagram post:

Honoring my Tita Miriam. Yesterday, she was awarded with the Quezon Service Cross, the highest civilian distinction one can ever receive from the government. Only six people have ever been given this honor, and Tita Miriam is the first woman to receive it.

Truly, there is no one more deserving of this award than Tita Miriam. She was a brave and brilliant woman of service, who lovingly dedicated whole her life to others – to her family, friends, and to the country. We love you, Tita Miriam. Your legacy lives on.
