Harassment in pageants is real, according to Mariel De Leon
Binibining Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel De Leon confirms that harassment in beauty pageants is real.
Following the controversial revelations of Miss Canada, England and Guam about the alleged harassment they experienced from Miss Earth pageant sponsor Amado S. Cruz, Mariel also broke her silence.
The world of international pageantry is indeed a colorful one as lovely beauty queens from around the globe are vying to get a prestigious beauty title.
Its prestige, on the other hand, comes along with intrigue and the recent controversy in Miss Earth pageant created a new door for this issue to be addressed.
Carousel Vice President Lorraine Schuck previously expressed their side regarding the issue and Amado S. Cruz denied the allegations against him.
On the other hand, there are still those who are taking the sides of the alleged beauty queen victims.
Mariel De Leon once again vocally expressed her thoughts about an issue. As being a beauty queen, the daughter of Christopher De Leon and Sandy Andolong confirmed that harassment in pageant is really happening.
She took to Twitter to exposed her revelation on what is happening behind the glamorous and prestigious beauty competitions.
She said that “sexual harassment in pageantry is real.” Mariel pointed out that it is also happening in beauty contests just like in other fields.
The beauty queen also said that it is not appropriate to blame the victim. For Mariel De Leon, other aspects of the issue such as the state of the victim should not be the concern.
She stressed out that what is wrong is wrong.
Here is the post of Mariel De Leon:
