UP Community Celebrates Ilocos Rep. Imelda Marcos’s Arrest Via Lighting A Bonfire
UP COMMUNITY – The UP community celebrates Sandiganbayan’s guilty verdict against Ilocos Rep. Imelda Marcos for cases of graft.
Imelda Marcos is guilty of seven cases of graft. She is sentenced to 6-11 years of imprisonment for every count. Sandiganbayan found her guilty for using her position in the Cabinet to maintain the Swiss bank accounts during the regime of the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Not only is Marcos sentenced to imprisonment but this also disqualifies her from holding any position in the government. Sandiganbayan reportedly ordered for the issuance of the arrest warrant against her.
Upon hearing this, the community of UP (University of the Phillipines) celebrated her arrest by lighting a bonfire. ABS-CBN News recently posted this on Twitter.
