Here are some of the rice prices in the Philippines amidst the crisis and the inflation of basic commodities and food products.

The increasing prices of commodities have been one of the major concerns of the Filipino people affected by inflation.

Rice, the staple food in the Philippines is also affected by the inflation contributing to the burden of the Filipino people.

As of the 4th week of September 2018, the price of rice has already reached from P55 to P66 per kilogram in some provinces. Last year, a kilo of rice only cost P42.17.

However, President Rodrigo Duterte denied that there is a rice shortage in the country amidst the controversies revolving around the Filipino’s staple food.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) released the rice and cord price index showing the price of regular milled rice stand at P43.12/kilo for wholesale and P45.83/kilo for retail.

While Well-milled Rice wholesale and retail prices were P46.04 and P49.73 per kilo. The average price of rice along Metro Manila alone was P48.

In Sulu province, Mindanao, the price of rice already reached P66 as of the last week of September, which is P17 higher than the national average.

The rice price in Zamboanga del Norte stands at P58/kilo followed by Mountain Province, Palawan, Bohol, Iloilo, and Southern Leyte at P55 per kilo.

Meanwhile, Tawi-Tawi has the cheapest price of rice at P34 per kilo.
