 Trillanes Amnesty Records “Missing” According to Department of National Defense

TRILLANES – The Department of National Defense said that 277 individual records of proclamation 75 including that of Sen. Antonio Trillanes’ have gone missing.

Based on a report, Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes IV was granted an amnesty by former President Noynoy Aquino III last 2011.

However, the Solicitor General Jose Calida found loopholes on the amnesty of Sen. Trillanes. Malacañang said that the Senator failed to comply with all the requirements.

Based on a report from Inquirer, records relating to the deliberations for the amnesty application of 277 individuals including Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV’s are missing.

During Trillanes’ hearing at the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 regarding his coup d’ etat case, Atty. Norman Daanoy, the Chief Legal Affairs of the Department of National Defense (DND), said that the records are non-existent.

Specifically, all the deliberations for the 277 amnesty applications and minutes regarding the Proclamation 75 are missing.

According to the report, counsel of Sen. Trillanes, Atty. Reynaldo Robles, is the one who asked directly Daanoy to confirm the news.

The Department of National Defense Legal Affairs office submitted a letter to the Department of Justice dated Sept. 21, 2018.

The letter expresses that there are no obtainable documents, transcript of stenographic notes, and minutes of the deliberation related to the proclamation.

It was recently when issues about the amnesty granted to the Senator sparked.

Proclamation 572 revoked the amnesty given to the Senator for allegedly not complying with the requirements of submitting an application form and accepting that he’s guilty.

Based on the report, Chief Records Division of the Department of National Defense, Arlene Manjares, stated that there are no records of the 277 amnesty application forms in her office.
