Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Jolts Rapu-Rapu, Albay

The state volcanology agency Phivolcs reported that a magnitude 3.5 earthquake has struck the town of Rapu-Rapu in the province of Albay.

On Tuesday morning (September 25, 2018), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that Rapu-Rapu, Albay has been struck by a magnitude 3.5 quake.

Around 7:21 am, Albay has been struck by the average tremor wherein its epicenter is located at 13.17°N, 124.11°E – 002 km S 41° W of Rapu-rapu (Albay).

The seismology agency explained that the quake in Albay has a depth of 80 kilometers and tectonic in origin.

Phivolcs also said that there is no damage has been recorded and no aftershocks were expected after the tremor.
