Badjao Kid Begging Money From Passengers Of MRT Earns Various Reactions
The photos of a badjao kid asking alms or begging money from the passengers of MRT garnered various reactions on the social media.
Nowadays, street children begging for money are very common in public places and public utility vehicles.
Most Filipino people have a good heart and compassion for the less-fortunate people so they usually give some amount for the street kids.
Recently, a Facebook user named Nikko Pelaez has uploaded the photos of a badjao kid beg money from the passengers of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT).
Those street children might have invaded the strict security of some metropolitan rail systems in Metro Manila.
However, there is still no clear explanation on how those kids break into the train systems despite the strict security.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been already implemented a law prohibiting the public to give alms to the mendicants.
Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1563 or the “Mendicancy Law of 1978,” the law aims to “prevent the practice of mendicancy and the exploitation of infants and children through such. It also aims to provide rehabilitation for mendicants through the provision of a comprehensive developmental package of services.”
