Heavy Rains Due To ‘Habagat’ May Affect Parts Of PH, PAGASA Says
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that some parts of the country may experience moderate to heavy rains due to the southwest monsoon.
On Tuesday (August 21, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest weather update in the country.
PAGASA reported that the southwest monsoon or the so-called ‘Habagat’ would affect the weather condition of north and west Luzon areas.
Typhoon Soulik, which is now traveling outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) enhances the Habagat.
Soulik has maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 195 kph moving 20kph at a west-northwest direction.
The enhanced southwest monsoon brings moderate to occasionally heavy rain over Ilocos and Cordillera Administrative Regions, the Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, Zambales, and Bataan.
Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, the Calabarzon Region, the Mindoro provinces, and northern Palawan would experience scattered rains and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country would have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions.
The weather agency also reported that the coastal waters from the southwest to northern Luzon would be rough to very rough.
The coastal water along Visayas and Mindanao would be slight to moderate.
