Low-Pressure Area (LPA) Enhances Habagat Affecting Parts of PH, PAGASA Says
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area within PAR enhances the southwest monsoon affecting parts of the country.
On Tuesday (August 14, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced the latest weather update in the country.
PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area was spotted at 760 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes.
The weather disturbance enhances the southwest monsoon or locally known as “Habagat” but it has no direct effect over country’s weather condition.
The enhanced Habagat would bring rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Zambales, and Bataan.
Moderate to heavy occasional rains are also expected over Metro Manila, Occidental Mindoro, Calabarzon and the rest of Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, the Visayas and Mindanao would experience isolated rains.
The weather agency also advised the fisher folks over the western and northern seabords of Luzon that sea travel remains risky due to rough to very rough coastal water condition.
The LPA has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to PAGASA.
