Vice President Leni Robredo Says That Duterte Must Elaborate Regarding The West PH Sea Dispute

WEST PH SEA – President Rodrigo Duterte has to elaborate on how to assert rights on West PH Sea according to Vice President Leni Robredo.

Based on the report, Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio was hoping that Duterte would elaborate on how we will protect our sovereign rights over the West Philippine Sea. Furthermore, he added that everybody agrees that we should protect our sovereign rights.

He emphasized that protecting the country’s sovereign rights includes the filing of protests. He added if China builds and then we don’t protest, we are waiving.

Recently, Vice President Leni Robredo expressed her opinions on Duterte’s SONA regarding on the same issue.

According to a report on Inquirer, Leni said that Duterte should have taken the chance to elaborate the dispute in his SONA.

She further added that the president did not explain the steps on how to assert their right on the sea.

President Duterte said in his SONA that “it does not mean that we will waver in our commitment to defend our interest in the West Philippine Sea.”

FurthermoreRobredo said that it is “difficult to explain how such a landmark victory for our nation, as well as for the rule of law, can be casually dismissed by our own government.”

As per the report, like Carpio, Robredo said that the nation should protest if they really want to protest. She further added that the nation must not stay contented unless the government show proof that they’re doing something.
