Philippines Experiences The ‘Longest Day Of 2018’ Today (June 21)
The Philippines is now experiencing the longest day and the shortest night of 2018 on Thursday (June 21) due to the summer solstice.
On Thursday (June 21, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the country would have its longest day.
The weather bureau said that the daytime would last for 12 hours and 59 minutes, which is much longer compared to the previous days.
The sun rises at 5:28 am and the sunset would take place around 6:27 pm indicates a longer daytime and a shorter night-time.
Summer solstice is the time where the Sun reaches its maximum ‘declination’ at +23.5 degrees.
This event indicates the start of the summer season in the northern hemisphere and people should expect longer daytime rather than night-time for the next three months.
The summer solstice is the opposite of winter solstice wherein night-time is longer compared to daytime.
Winter solstice usually takes place every December 21 and 22 of every year.
