BORACAY – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu has announced that “compliant” resorts and hotels are allowed to accept early bookings of the guests.

The famous Boracay Island which is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Philippines is currently closed. Based on a report, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has ordered for its temporary closure for rehabilitation.

It was on April 26 when the tourist destination was closed and the end of the six-month temporary closure period will be on October 26. The authorities discovered a septic tank and 26 pipelines leading to the shore.

Previously, Environment Sec. Roy Cimatu expressed that the reopening of Boracay Island may not happen in October as the beachfront works are not part of the initial plan.
