The Filipina actress Agot Isidro has reacted to President Duterte’s order to arrest ‘tambays’ or loiterers, which allegedly makes it safer for the public.

President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to arrest loiterers in order to make the streets in the country safer for the Filipino people.

In just five days, PNP had already arrested almost 3, 000 people in Metro Manila only for loitering along the streets.

PNP Chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde said that a total of 2,981 tambays have been arrested from June 13 to 18, 2018.

944 people violating curfew hours were arrested, 653 for drinking in public, 651 for going half-naked, 456 people for smoking in public, 138 traffic violators, and 139 for various offenses like littering, late-night karaoke and urinating in public.

In Quezon City, 302 people have been picked up. Talipapa Police Station arrested 114 of them including 13 minors who violated the city’s discipline hours.

Packets of illegal drugs and paraphernalia were seized from ten of the arrested loiterers.

She also expressed her opposition regarding the plan of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to run as president in the next elections.
