President Duterte Joins Muslim People in Eid’l Fitr Celebration
PRESIDENT DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave a message for the Eid’l Fitr 2018.
Today, June 15, the Muslim people are marking the end of Ramadan. Based on a report, President Duterte has declared this day as a regular holiday to give time to the Muslim people to celebrate the Eid’l Fitr 2018.
The 73-year-old Chief Executive has also released a message for our Muslim brothers and sisters who are celebrating the Eid’l Fitr 2018. A photo of the statement of the President has been posted on the Twitter page of ANC via ABS-CBN’s Dharel Placido.
In his Eid’l Fitr 2018 message, President Duterte expressed that he is joining the Muslim people as they mark Ramadan’s end and “reaffirm their commitment to self-purification”.
According to President Duterte, he trusts that the faith of the Muslim people has been rekindled by the sacrifice they made during the month-long fasting. He also stated that he trusts that the sacrifice they made has awakened their empathy towards their fellow Filipino people and as well as their “sense of benevolence”.
In his message, the President stated that it is now the chance to reflect on the progress done to achieve a lasting peace in the Philippines most especially in Mindanao. He expressed his hope that the celebration would inspire everyone to push for “greater unity” despite the differences in terms of culture and faith.
“Together, let us engage in acts of charity as we steer our nation towards a more progressive and tolerant future,” President Duterte stated.
