“It’s Showtime” issues public apology over ampon joke.
AMPON JOKE – The mainstay hosts and all the people of the noontime show “It’s Showtime” issue a public apology following the insensitive “ampon” joke of GirlTrend Erin Ocampo.
There have been times where in order to entertain their viewers, some people or even the mainstay hosts tend to express offensive or insensitive remark over someone or something.
And the Kapamilya noontime program “It’s Showtime”, out of context, one of the GirlTrend members have said a joke about “ampon” or adopted during the show’s “Purokatatawanan” segment.
This is not the first time that the show has been in the middle of controversy. Previously, based on a published article, they elicited comments after mentioning the AlDub love team.
And recently, the “ampon” joke has circulated online receiving various comments.

And the NORFIL Foundation Inc. has expressed on Facebook their “grave alarm and dismay to Showtime’s episode” as the joke was accordingly “insensitive and ignorant” and must not be tolerated.
Thus, after the online commotion about the joke, the hosts, in behalf of Ocampo, has issued a sincere apology in television.
Based on a report from PEP, Amy Perez, one of the hosts, has stated during a live airing, “Kahapon po, sa aming pananghalian, yung ‘Puro Katatawanan’ ay nagbitaw po ang aming kasamang si Erin Ocampo ng hindi magandang biro tungkol po sa mga ampon, na nakasakit po sa damdamin ng publiko.”
“Ang buong programa po ay humingi ng paumanhin at hindi po namin intensiyon na mawalan ng respeto at gawing katawa-tawa ang marami pong tao.”
Moreover, “Magtiwala po kayo na mas lalo po kaming magiging maingat, responsable, at sensitibo sa amin pong mga salita para sa kasiyahan po ng lahat. Muli ang amin pong paumanhin sa lahat at mahal po namin kayo madlang people. Maraming salamat po.”
