DOH Investigating Sleeping ER Staff Of Rizal Medical Center On Viral Post
The Department of Health (DOH) and the Rizal Medical Center is now investigating the sleeping staff of the hospital’s emergency room on viral post.
Last week, the video footage showing the sleeping staff of the emergency department of Rizal Medical Center goes viral after it was posted online.
The video uploader revealed that some staff of the hospital in the ER department were sleeping from 2:30 to 4 am and allegedly ignored her grandmother who was then choking on her own blood.
The netizen also shared that the staff of the hospital allegedly lacks knowledge in performing medical procedures such as inserting a nasogastric tube.
However, Dr. Maria Rica Lumague of Rizal Medical Center Chief of Clinics said that the patient has stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer and acute respiratory failure secondary to community-acquired pneumonia.
Lumague explained that the patient was already weak upon arriving at the ER around 12:30 pm on May 20. She also denied that there is no incident such as the patient was choking on her own blood.
On May 23, the elderly woman was transferred to Medicine war and passed away on May 24, 2018.
The hospital has also expressed their sympathy and condolences to the patient’s family and ensured that they will see to it that their staff were properly performing their job.
“Nakikiramay kami dahil obviously, ‘yung person na ‘yon ay hurting… Hindi namin tino-tolerate kahit na anumang negligence or incompetence sa mga kawani ng aming ospital. Kung meron mang napatunayan na nagkulang o nagkasala, hindi kami magdadalawang-isip na magbigay ng karampatang sanctions kung kinakailangan,” Lumague said quoted by GMA.
