Catholic Priest Sells Fish To Fund Church Construction In Basilan

A Catholic priest identified as Fr. Joel Silagpo sells fish just to fund the construction of a Christian Church in Basilan in the midst of Muslim community.

Fr. Silagpo, a Catholic priest in Basilan has decided to sell fish to fund the construction of a Church for the Christian believers.

The priest wanted to construct a church for the believers in the midst of Muslim community because of his desire and compassion to serve God.

In March 2017, the story of Fr. Silagpo gone viral for selling fish every day just to earn a huge amount of money to fund the construction of the church.

The Church servant has started his advocacy with only P100,000 fund and was able to reach his goal with the guidance of God.

Eventually, Fr. Silagpo successfully accomplished the construction of the San Antonio de Padua Parish Church worth P9 million, which was inaugurated last May 5, 2018.

“If Christ can sacrifice for His people, then, I am just doing my share to my community,” Fr. Silagpo said.
