According to a report from Newsweek, Issa Rae called the Filipinos “The Blacks of Asians”.

Rae suggested in her book, “This is why I propose that black women and Asian men join forces in love, marriage, and procreation. Educated black women what better intellectual match for you than an Asian man? And I’m not talking about Filipino’s, they’re like the Blacks of Asians. I’m talking Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, et cetera.”

She further added, “So black women, after college, maybe it’s a good idea to settle in Los Angeles or anywhere else where Koreatown is a hotspot.”

This has then ignited a backlash from the people especially from the Filipinos and even accused her to be a “racist”.

One comment from the report indicated, “All I can say is she’s using Filipinos to make a stir in social media and make her trash work famous. Good or Bad Publicity is still Publicity.”

Another comment stated, “This article caught my attention. After reading, I realized (as a Filipino guy) that I have wasted my time reading “her” non sense & narrow-minded statement. Lol”
