Palace Declares May 14 As Special Non-Working Holiday

Malacañang Palace has declared May 14, 2018, as a special non-working holiday to allow voters to participate in barangay and SK elections.

On Wednesday (May 02, 2018), President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the Proclamation No. 479 declaring May 14, 2018, as a non-working holiday to let people fully exercise their right of suffrage.

The declaration of the upcoming holiday has been confirmed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

The proclamation aims to allow the voters throughout the country to participate in barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, which has been already postponed from October 23, 2017, to May 14, 2018.

The barangay and SK elections have been moved twice, which was originally set to take place last 2016.
